Grand Canal - the main waterway of Venice

Gondola - the trademark of Venice .

The metal plate attached to the tail of every Gondola is the symbol of Doge's hat in the Venetian Republic with 6 teeth signifying the 6 main districts of Venice. The 7th tooth on the other side signifies the island of Lido across the bay. .

Inside Palazzo Ducale - Paintings by Veronese Particularly noticable is the 3 dimensional effect created on flat wall. The sculptures on both sides of the painting in the second picture are not sculptures , but paintings !
